Why to the top frets on my RG suck?

I was learning some paul gilbert exercises the other day, and I noticed that I get buzz above about the 16th fret, and my accuracy sucks (more than usual, I always end up hitting the next door notes). This is on my RG570 by the way. And my GRG170 seems to play better up there.

I've discovered that the GRG170 has medium frets, whereas the 570 has jumbo, could this be the issue?

I recently strung up the RG570 with 10s (from 9s), so I've had to adjust the action considerably. Maybe my setup skills just suck ass.

But I seem to have a nagging feeling that it needs a fretjob, is there any way to tell if the frets arn't leveled properly?

Some people's hands can certainly get accustomed to one fret size and yours could have that issue. Try going to your fav. music store and play one guitar that has medium frets and one that has jumbo and see if you can experience the same anomaly. If the problem persists, you know that you might have to get a refret, a different guitar, or simply spend more time with the 570 so your hand can get used to the frets.

I did do this actually.

I played an S prestige, a RG550EX, an ESP SC207, Ibanez UV and a Schecter Hellraiser.

They all felt fine, and im pretty sure the frets are all the same size, which is what leads me to believe in the setup/fret condition

I thought the RG 550 had jumbo frets while the UV had dunlop 6150 (or whatever the number is) that are considerably thinner?

Actually, I had a look at the ibanez catalogue. The UV with the Lo-Pro, not the edge pro, has "large" frets.

I assume "large" is smaller than "jumbo"?
