Will oiling a neck effect colour?


Hi, Ive got a maple/maple neck I want to oil, I was wondering how much will the oil effect the colour of the neck? I was thinking about useing either tung oil or tru oil.

is it unfinished? tung oil would work IMO.

if it's unfinished, both will work

many would say tru oil, because it's designed for hand contact feel on gunstocks and apparently feels great as a neck finish

it should make the wood darker. but i have seen a few mutated maple necks with tru oil... but that was probably because the owner who stained it or watever was high at that time.

Tru Oil has a slight tint to it, but nothing even close to a drastic change.
