Will oiling a neck effect colour?
Hi, Ive got a maple/maple neck I want to oil, I was wondering how much will the oil effect the colour of the neck? I was thinking about useing either
tung oil
or tru oil.

is it unfinished? tung oil would work IMO.

Re: Will oiling a neck effect colour?
if it's unfinished, both will work
many would say tru oil, because it's designed for hand contact feel on gunstocks and apparently feels great as a
neck finish

Re: Will oiling a neck effect colour?
it should make the wood darker. but i have seen a few mutated
maple necks
with tru oil... but that was probably because the owner who stained it or watever was high at that time.

Tru Oil has a slight tint to it, but nothing even close to a drastic change.
