Wireing a jack socket - crossed wires?

A while ago i took my old baretta to bits cut the old jack socket out, as it kept making nasty noises when i pulled on cord, Ive now got round to putting it back together, but being no electrician i cannot remember if it matters which way round the wires to it go, there both blue and white, does it matter?

Wireing a jack socket

The hot (from the pickups and volume knobs) should be soldered to the part that will be touching the head of the jack. The ground/cold should be soldered to the part that will be touching the base of the jack.
If it still makes that nasty noise, just bendthe thin little peice that touches the head in a little bit so it makes a more solid connection.
