woods, tones and sustain

This thread will be about different woods and the tones you can get from them. Also I want to talk about the sustain in different woods.

I want to know about your experiences with different woods.

I read in many places that mahogany gives the best sustain. I noticed that on mahogany pups get muddy pretty easy.

(Right now I have a mahogany S320. It' not a high end guitar like a prestige or something like that but I did a nice set-up and I love it now.) This means my experiences are about mahogany S body. I know Gibsonish mahogany body is another story.

I am very interested to hear anything you know about: baswood, mahogany, adler, ash, maple or any other wood that gives nice sounds when used in guitars.

Thank You.
