Wow!!! Try these strings!!

Anyone else here use Elixir electric strings??

I tryed a set probably 2-3 years ago and don't remember thinking much of it. But of course that was long ago and I've grown much.

Now I've used and tryed almost every type of string available. And in all different gauges. I'm always shifting around from one brand to another about every 6 months or so. My longest running was Markley's Blue Steel 10-46 which I was using for over a year. Until recently when I switched back to Ernie Balls.

I've ALWAYS used Elixir on my acoustic partly because they WERE excellent, but mostly cuz thats what everyone else uses. I didn't know anything different for acoustics. Whereas I never considered Elixir for my electric because I thought there was no way I'd like it. They were TOO different.

You know where I'm going with this. Grabbed a Nano 10-46 set 2 nights ago, threw 'em on as soon as I got home, and BAM!!!

For a few minutes I was wondering if I was just "on" 110% that night. When I was re-stringing I noticed they were much brighter then other strings. I mean LOOK wise. They looked very chromed out it was very cool.

Then I tuned 'er up to standard E. Played a few chords unplugged.

Wow. These strings made my maple top MOVE! The resonance and outward projection I felt and heard had never come out of my Custom 22 like this before.

I gave each string 2 good yanks, dropped every string a bit, and re-tuned up. Then I hit the standby switch on my amp.

I jammed out for probably a solid 45 minutes without stopping much other then to take a sip of beer. These strings blew me away. My treble strings were so much bolder and really seemed to step out of the shadow that usually the bass strings will create with strength. Every chord sounded full and correct. They only needed retuning ONCE in the 45 minutes right after I had put them on. These suckers stay in tune. And they feel great.

So of course this night was a full moon. And I was well rested and in a really good mood. So my ears and hands were down and good to play guitar. And I absoutely love my PRS so it augments the fun even more. But I went back last night to play again and still I felt the improvements I felt the night before. So hopefully I didn't just a get a killer set!!

Give these strings a shot! And No I don't work for Elixir.

The unwound elixir strings are actually just regular plain strings so if you're getting more tone out of the unwound strings it's likely just to be you.

Gore Tech gave me a bunch of sample packs two years before they marketed them as Elixir strings and I never liked them a whole lot. The acoustic ones were ok but the electric ones I never really liked, but then again, those *were* test samples and were the polyweb coated strings.

(It's probably the reason why you can't find Elixir polyweb electric strings, only the nanoweb ones).

Re: Wow!!! Try these strings!!

My store does carry the Polyweb electrics, but in all honesty, we sell VERY little Elixir electric sets. Their acoustic sets are our best selling acoustic string. But I may sell a pack of electric maybe once a month. MAYBE. So they definetly are not the most popular!! Which is cool, to each his own. Whats important is that I liked 'em so Im happy.

Your right about the plain strings being just that, plain. But don't even the plain strings sound different from brand to brand?? I always thought so but I could be the only one.

Our best selling electric set?? It would be a tough call between D'Addario or Ernie Ball, of course. With DR and GHS coming after. I don't hate any of 'em.
