Double-Edge As An After-Market Item - Probably spoken of bef
If this has been posted in the past-disregard it.
I'd love to see the Double-Edge thrown into the after-market area.
Understanding that it would require some routing to the guitar's body, I could see that Ibanez wouldn't want to carry on something like this-HOWEVER-look at the numbers of people who often take their JEM555's and throw Lo-Pro's or Edge's on them.
Not only the fact that, 'if the people want it, they'll do the work', but also there are so many luthiers and craftsmen around this forum alone, anyone who is way to nervous to drill a few holes through their guitar could probably ask someone like Brian Calvert to do the routing for them.
Why not a non-Lo-Pro-Double-Edge. (Meaning a Double-Edge, using the Edge trem instead of the Lo-Pro). There definitely is a market of Edge fans that I'm sure would love this.
Also, if the
KJG Wiring Mod
never makes it to an actual
production model
, it'd be superwonderfulfantastic to include the schematic or diagram along with the Double-Edge (or even Double-Edge equipped guitars), so anyone outside of Jemsite land and it's surrounding edges can get the chance to use this mod.

Double-Edge As An After-Market Item
I remember a discussion some time ago on this topic. Can't find it now. Anyway, if memory serves, there was a date associated with the Double Edge being obtainable.
Anyone else remember that? Or... any comments from "in-the-know" lurkers?
In staying true to the rules of the topic, let me say that I vote for continued Double edge use on
Ibanez guitars
. It is a HUGE contribution to diversity.

What exactly does the double edge have over the other edge bridges? *I'm a tad guitar ignorant as of now, I just play em.

Double-Edge As An After-Market Item
I'd love an aftermarket double edge... It would be way cool, and would (with the help of a drill!) find it's way onto a couple of guitars!
piezo double locking yay!

Oh- so you're ready to do the installation? *:-) *
It's not like replacing a volume knob, folks.
I mean, you only have to drill two holes in the top of your
beautiful guitar
(no- you can't just use push-pull pots with the current holes), drill for the other jack, and don't forget the routing in back for the components as well as the battery.
If you do/can get one aftermarket, please take it to a competent tech that you trust to have them install it. *Even if you have one fleeting thought of resignation about doing the install yourself.

Double-Edge As An After-Market Item
You know...that almost seems minimal compared to some of the work people spend on customizing their guitars. How about those guys who've made their entire guitars from a couple logs of different wood.
There's usually at least 1 shop around that'll do some work like this. I live in Lewiston, Maine and there are 5 in a 45 minute radius that I know can do the work in a way even Rich would be sufficed with.
Now as a Double-Edge user, Kevan, would the mods be worth it?

Sure, it's a great system, but I don't think that Joe Average RG Player could do an install of the DE system. *No offense to Joe Average, it's just that it's a very complicated system.
The only way I see this able to happen, is to have shops send a tech to Hoshino for a couple of days training....kinda like Cisco Systems Certification. *The techs could go thru ALL the bridges on Ibanez guitars, pickup wiring/switching, and proper parts ordering. *Then the shop could be an authorized dealer
AND
an authorized tech/repair center. *
Something like that would also keep your warranty valid. *If you have Hacking Schlep Guitar Repair install or work on your DE, plan on not having a warranty. *That means you pay for every penny of repair or adjustment.
Now, I could make jokes about how "Rich will never be content" or, go the other route and say that Rich would be content with C-Team work. *
But I won't go there. *:-)
I do, however, think that if Ibanez did offer certification, Rich and I would be the first to offer our knowledge to Ibanez so we can get folks certified.

Two Hole's :rotf:
By the time you purchased the kit and hired somebody to install it you would be better off just buying the whole guitar.
Don't believe me
Your talking special holes mounted to specific dimentions from each other on the circuit board alone...

Hey Bri- I dare you to un-wrap the black ribbon around the block of the trem.
