Cool

Hey Ibanez, What about us hardtail lovers?

I am probably in the minority here, but I happen to like guitars with hardtails. So, how about it? Also, 22 fret necks, and most importantly, other woods for the RG series. I'm not talking agathis either. How about a non-prestige solid mahogany, or perhaps walnut natural finish? (I'm sick of painted guitars!)

Well, you can't get a 22 fret RG. But why don't you take a look at the SZ series?

Re: Hey Ibanez, What about us hardtail lovers?

The RG321 is made of mahogany as of 2005 and it has a hardtail. It also comes in a mahogany oil finish which looks quite natural. The RGA series also have hardtails and are made of mahogany with a series maple top. If you want 22 frets, then the RG series is not for you. The S, SA, or SZ series would probably be more to your liking. I played an SA series guitar the other day and thought that it was decent and was rather surprised with how good the trem on it was even though it was non-locking.

Re: Hey Ibanez, What about us hardtail lovers?

Getting a 22 fret RG kind of defeats the point of the guitar, IMO. However, I would REALLY like to see a hardtail S series guitar. The SA guitars are nice, but I prefer the 22 fret Wizard II neck over the Sangria neck on the SA models.

A hardtail RG with the HSH pickup config (ala PG) would be very cool for those who like to "rock", but want to get a little "stratty" once in a while!

It seems more like you shouldn't be with Ibanez period! JK...but good luck getting a 22 fret solid mohogony body RG WITH a hardtail without getting it custom made...

I agree completely with the wanting 22 frets and a hardtail but (in my best Kanye West voice)

Ibanez does not care about hard tail people.

Re: Hey Ibanez, What about us hardtail lovers?

thats great but it's only 5 models... two of which are practically the same thing(321,121)

so 4 major hardtail options... personally i'd rather see ibanez simply start to add a hardtail option to more models that have locking trems, i don't see why it would be hard?

Re: Hey Ibanez, What about us hardtail lovers?

We're talking hardtails like what's on the RG321 and the PGM301. The RGA321 and 121 are fixed bridge, plus, it's not the traditional RG body shape. The RGT42DXFX is neck through. Ibanez doesn't have ANY RG body, bolt on neck, hardtail guitars except for the RG321 and the PGM301. There's a HUGE gap in between those models. A Japanese Prestige level hardtail is what I'd like to see. A hardtail version of the 570 or 550 would be sweet. --Jason

Re: Hey Ibanez, What about us hardtail lovers?

i actually prefer fixed bridge options like the RGAs have, i wish there were more fixeds in the rg line especially as options rather than models of their own

Yeah, I agree. I've complained about a lack of hardtails too and people point to RGAs and non-Prestige models. I think that usually, "hardtail" refers to Fender style string-thru bridges. Not wraptails or TOMs. The only Prestige level hardtail that Ibanez makes currently is the PGM, afaik.

After exhausting all my options with Ibanez and our site sponsors, I've finally started gathering parts for a hardtail Strat.

Re: Hey Ibanez, What about us hardtail lovers?

what i've been praying for is a new version of the gibraltar+ like the RGAs but one that strings through body, that would be sweet cos aesthetically speaking i have to admit regular hardtails have something missing
