Re: Ibanez, if you only read one thread here make it this one !!

Ibanez my request is for more 7 Strings and other finish colors (not the old ones, something fresh and new that Ibanez hasn't done yet)

2 RG 7's hard tail and trem with a mahogany body
Xiphos 7 with more finish options
JS7
RGT7

Dear Hosono San,

I have this lovely '90 Rg 760 with paisley finish, can you tell a little story about this guitar?

For everyone, please forgive me asking this personal question here, I don;t want to make a whole new thread just for it.

thank you.

best regards,
Mario

Re: Ibanez, if you only read one thread here make it this one !!

I know that what I am going to say has probably all been said before, but it can't hurt to support the masses I guess.

I agree that the colour scheme that is currently in place is quite bland, I mean lets face it, how many different types of black can you think of? I can only think of one, but somehow black keeps coming back with added adjectives...

Shades of red make nice coloured guitars, bright red, dark red, flame red. They all look nice. The same for blues and some greens, some yellows make nice coloured guitars as well.

What about not using colour? It was done on the S470SOL, that was a lovely guitar, something like that again. The RGT220 models have something like that which I think are very attractive to the eye.

IMO Ibanez are the pinnacle for 7 string models, yet there are only 4 types of 7 string models in production, with one of them being a signature model. Again some colour choices on the RG1527 would go well I think.

Offset dots rule, why have dots down the middle when you can nice tidy dots to one side? I know I would. Binding is nice as well but I appreciate not everybody likes binding. Whilst on the subject of necks, maple fingerboards...RG550 anyone? Enough said I guess. Reverse headstocks!!!!! oh and matching colour headstocks.

12th fret inlays only kick ass, just not the claw inlay on the S520. The pre 04 S prestige models had that cool looking wave inlay at the 12 fret, leaving the rest of the board blank. That is really cool.

Sorry for sounding like I am ranting on but I think these are a few of the problems that sometimes stops a buyer grabbing an Ibanez.

Having said my rant, there are good things, I like the trems, I like the new shadow sharkfin inlays on the RG2xxx models. The addition of binding on the RG2570 is excellent! The prestige RG bodies have deep neck pockets, I love that.

Oh last thing, S prestige should be MIJ.

An affordable RGT7 hardtail, and, as second priority, one with trem.

We don't really stand a chance with the colours

I mean, i was looking through the 2007 Ibanez catalogue i picked up at the London Guitar Show yesterday and i noticed on page 94 with all the pictures of the finishes, for MRR (Mirage RED) the pic is of.............a BLACK guitar

For the record we have;

BBK (biker's black)
BK (black)
BKF (black flat)
BKN (black night)
BP (black pearl)
GK (galaxy black)
RBK (roadrage black)
SDB (suede black)
TK (transparent black)
TKF (transparent black flat)
TKS (transparent black sunburst)
WK (weathered black)

Not to mention all the greys and 2 iron pewters

Re: Ibanez, if you only read one thread here make it this one !!

Some things I'd like to see:

1. NO MORE EDGE PRO. I hate that thing, even though I have a 2003 RG3120TW with one (the sound and flamed top make up for the trem, fortunately).

2. Offset dot markers. Traditional markers are boring and look very plain and dull on Ibanez guitars, which are otherwise beautiful.

3. Go back to using brand name DiMarzio pickups, like Tone Zone/ PAF pro combination. No more DiMarzio/ Ibanez pickups. Just don't like them very much.

4. More flamed maple top models and more colors to choose from.

EDIT:

5. And, on the RGA models -- make them THICKER! When my RGA321FSPB arrived, I couldn't believe how freaking thin it was. I know it's an arch top, but still... make it THICK, but with an arched top. It's possible, Ibanez, it's possible!

He definitely ask the opposite side lol, we want thin he wants it thick, and there's nothing wrong with Dimarzio/IBZ pickups either.

Re: Ibanez, if you only read one thread here make it this one !!

I'd like to see Ibanez finally come into the 21st century's production/distribution models.

In a globalized world, I find it completely preposterous to have to wait 5-6 months for a regular production model.

By the time I get my 2007 S-series model, it will be time for summer NAMM '07. God forbid I get another gas attack, I couldn't go through all this waiting again. (and neither could mattsmusic either )

BTW...Your pic came out real nice in the 2007 catalog Mr. Hosono!!! (p.3 with Mr. Gilbert and Mr. Roberts)
