They can't use the Edge anymore then? I thought their license expired not the patent?

No, it means that they don't have to pay whatever they would have had to before to Floyd Rose to make those trems.

I think. lol

Yep, from what I understand your right. Its not that they cant use them, its that they dont have to pay anything to use them now.

I agree with the negative sentiment regarding the Edge III--every Edge III-equipped guitar I have owned (and there have been several) have had such tuning stability problems, even after professional setup, that the trem is just un-usable. Dump that junk Edge III and standardize on the Edge Zero or something more stable. I'd pay more for a non-prestige RG that has the Edge Zero without hesitation.

Ibanez doesn't care about the player anymore. They haven't for a long time. They want the noobs to by the cheapo guitar sets and the rich collector types to by the $8000 limited editions. They will continue to raise prices every year until we all give up on them.
I just sold a RG2610 on the 'bay and it went for $500, for f**k's sake! $500 for a PRESTIGE! When did I land on planet loony that such a thing could happen???

thats the thing though, us intermediate to advanced players mostly buy off 'bay and local forums so technically we save a lot of money...on used gear though.

With the new stuff that ibby are releasing, i guess we just gotta wait until someone sells theirs lol...

Re: Ibanez, if you only read one thread here make it this one !!

how about an rg7 that doesnt suck? *cough*rg7321*cough*sucks*cough* and the lo-pro edge was nice. less basswood. maybe put some quality into the non-prestige guitars? take the price of the rgt down, its not that good. BETTER 8 STRING BRIDGE. guitars come with maple AND rosewood. i see a million guitars that i would love to have that are ruined for me because of the maple board. more neck thru's? IF A GUITAR IS $500+, IT DISERVES A GOOD TREM. NO MORE EDGE III's. i like dark deathmetal and black guitars but i would LOVE to see some more yellow, pink, purple, bright blue, GREEN, orange, teal, all those colors WITH ROSEWOOD FRETBOARDS!!!!! do i want a green guitar with pink pickups? HELL YEA I DO!!!! how bout a public customs shop like every other company? i hate having the same guitar as every1 else!! I WANT TO BE ORIGINAL!!!! maybe some j, customs in america? i know the "j" stands for japan but we want them too!!! make a version of the rgd2127z prestige with an edge pro, just like theres an rg1527 with an edge zero and vice versa. X series prestige guitars? no more pickup rings if theres no rickguard. 7 string acoustic at a good price. put some higher quality into the rg fixed catagory. maybe bring back the rg7621? higher quality rga models. it seems that if its not an rg/a/d prestige then it just gets the edge III trem that no one likes. but above all else theres one thing that you need to consider.

we all love you and we all know you make the best of the best. your $400 guitar is better than en esp or jackson for the same price. ive never played anything better than a super wizard neck, ever. your have AANJ on almost every model, most companies cant say that. you are certainly my favorate company and i wont turn my back on you.

please consider us and what we said because were YOUR people. ive never gotten excited over an esp or jackson or schecter. and especially not a gibson or a fender. but i have for you. i saw that rg465 in soda blue and almost cried because its not in the states. we love you

sincerely,
Damien, ibanez player for life

I prefer Cosmo hardware to black on a general basis. But I think it's importnat to keep matching hardware to the guitar in question. If a guitar looks better with chrome haardware, give it chrome hardware, if it needs black give it black hardware, if it needs cosmo, cosmo it should receive

As my wife pointed out several years ago..."All guitars should have chrome/nickel hardware since the frets themselves are always of a silver look! All other colors make it look weird"...Just saying

Why not make a 24-fret model for the ART series? Don't change the line up completely, but just one model with 24-frets, that would be pretty nice.
