I'm not quite sure what this is, but Rachel freaked out when she saw it.
Ok, it's a "Special Advertising Section" for Chrysler about the middle of Vanity Fair Dec. 2002 issue (that pig Nicole Kidman is on the cover). The section is called "The Line on Design". Here's what the front page says:
"It's where form and function meet. The perfect marriage of passion and precision. Memorable designs are those whose very appearance exposes their excellence. And whos performance and engineering only intensify it. Here, world-renowned arbiters of design from DIFFA (The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS), led by David Rockwell, identify the five reigning movements of contemporary design and some of the extraordinary objects they've inspired."
Inside, the 5 Movements are: Color, Craft, Technology, Comfort, & Dynamic.
On the pages for Dynamic, an Ibanez
EDA-900 is shown, along with "Hair by Renato Campora at The Wall Group", "Lightning 09 Rollerblade", "Slinky", "The Gateshead Millenium Bridge by Wilkinson Eyre Architechs" and the new Chrysler "Crossfire".
According to the last page, there's a gallery showing of sorts at the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles starting on Dec. 3.
Looks like Ibanez won and award, kinda....or...at the very least, some top designers recognize the EDA bass design as one of the best designs in the world.
Just thought you'd all like to know. It's not everyday that you see a wicked guitar in Vanity Fair. :-P
NOTE: The EDA basses rock. Sign me up for an EDA-905! :-)
