Ibanez Jem double neck

Would anybody like to see a Jem double neck available from Ibanez. You could have say standard Evo's in one neck and a sustainer system in the other. I quite like double-necks, tricky to play because of their shape, but you get the best of everything in one guitar. What do you guys think

Re: Ibanez Jem double neck

Ooh, sounds interesting. Double-necks can be very difficult to play on, so it won't really catch on. Even as a limited run, it wouldn't be feasible.

Besides, why ask for a double-neck when Vai plays a triple-neck? It's got a lot of thing going on it: A twelve string for the the top neck, a standard VWH in the middle, and a fretless with a Fernandes Sustainer at the bottom.. And it's got that cool pyramid inlay with the holographic eye. We all can dream, but the chances of Ibanez making it available to the general public is very, very slim.

But to answer your question, yes I would like to see a Jem with more than one neck to come from Ibanez.

P.S: Does anyone know how well the double neck 540S worked out? I really don't know. Oh, and this is in the wrong forum.

Re: Ibanez Jem double neck

Galviston guitars have a double neck & tripple neck 6&7 combo or 6,7,12 string combo guitars, the necks on the guitars look like Ibanez headstock shape & are set in to the body like a Les Paul, these guitars are well made & are cheep enough to buy & mod out any way you want, you can save on mega bucks if you want to try muliti neck guitars & mod them out the way you want bro, some how i don't think Ibanez will make a production line guitar in this style your looking for bro.

Cheers- Jake

imo i tink dat the double neck sg is a waste of money, only 20 frets each, not very playable

Re: Ibanez Jem double neck

I have a double neck Ovation electro acoustic and yes they take some getting used to like anything else. Once you have mastered it it is fine. Not that easy to play sitting down unless you are tall with monkey length arms.

What is funny, and I guess it is market forces at play, is just how few manufacturers, other than Gibson, either make any kind of double neck and if they do it is tucked away in their custom shop brochure small print.

Re: Ibanez Jem double neck

I've thought numerous time about buying a few beat up jems, taking the necks and parting the rest out to get some cash back, and then getting someone to make me a body to fit the necks. It'd cost a ****load of cash, but at the same time if ever you need to sell it I'm sure you'd get a good price back for it.

At the end of the day though, who'd want to sell a triple neck?

Re: Ibanez Jem double neck

Warmoth do double neck bodies in Strat & tele shapes. Not quite the same I know but I'm sure it'd work out a lot cheaper than a limited run Ibby.

Now that I think of it... Double neck strat (one maple, one ebony) with floyd on the bottom and a hardtail set up for slide on the top...yummy.

Re: Ibanez Jem double neck

I would love to see a double neck frrom Ibanez, maybe something like a 6 with a lo-pro and a hard tail combined so you could use alternate tunings on the fixed bridge side with what should be zero (going out of tune) issues. I doubt we will ever see them from the factory for our consumption, but hopefully Ibanez will prove me wrong, I would buy one. I have looked into some of the "Custom" shops available, but it would be nice, and a reassuring to have one made by the company that built my Jem7vwh,Jem777DY, and Rg.

Re: Ibanez Jem double neck

I would love to see one, but knowing Ibanez it would be prohibitively expensive. Maybe a Korean prestige might be affordable, though.
I'd rather a Jem with piezos, I think.

Re: Ibanez Jem double neck

Does anybody know if you can buy a jem 12 string neck. I wouldn't mind pay a local builder to build me a body if I could get 12 strings bits, neck, bridge etc
