Ibanez Prices.....

Dear Ibanez,

It is my opinion that the prices on some of your new guitars are very high. For example:

RG-3520HBK - $1799

This guitar is basically an RG3120 with a stripe down the middle. Don't get me wrong, Ibanez fans are ECSTATIC that you are releasing a new version of the 3120; it's been far too long - please don't discontinue this one! But, the only thing that would stop me from buying this would be the $1,800 price tag.

In my opinion, it is overpriced for what it is. The RGT320Q (which I recently just purchased brand new) is a wonderful instrument and worthy of the $2,000 price tag. But, the RG-3520HBK is not worth a price tag within $200 of the RGT320Q. This is just my opinion. I respect your company and have been playing Ibanez guitars for years and encourage all my students to do the same, which many of them do.

Thanks for reading.

Re: Ibanez Prices.....

$1 799 = list.

The market will determine what it actually sells for.

Spoiled brats! I wish you a couple of years buying outside the US or Japan to see how perceptions of value change.

Supply and Demand ...

If you think its too much don't buy it. If other people do the same demand will fall and the price will have to reduce to sell

Hoshino are obviously are experienced in marketing their products and have set prices based on their judgement.

As Cid says - Let us know how you get on !!

Re: Ibanez Prices.....

In Europe the 3520 is sold 2/3 the price of the RGT320Z (1538 euros vs 2290 euros)

Which is a nonsense considering 1538€=2269$ and 2290€=3378$...why, oh why?!?

Guitars are always more expensive in europe, despite nowadays currency rates...
Maybe they will raise a little bit prices in the US because of the low USD, but they certainly won't decrease prices in europe with the high level of the EURO
It's impossible to compare the absolute value of US prices and European prices...

That's just why I mentionned first the price ratio between the two models, which I guess should be the same...

Re: Ibanez Prices.....

I have been super excited to see a production version of the Euro limited RG but at a cost of around the same or very close to the limited is a little bit of a pisser.

I'm in a "silver lining" mood at the moment so I see it as a sign to finish up other projects and pick up other things on my GAS list

Re: Ibanez Prices.....

Shey did the same thing last year with the limited S20065 becoming the S4170 the year after...
It's becoming a strange habit...

In my opinion, the RG20071 is a little bit nicer with its offset dot inlays...

Agreed. Offset LARGE abalone dots are SEXXY as hell.

Most important for me is the side dots being visible on a dimly lit stage.

Re: Ibanez Prices.....

To reiterate what others have said, I think the US market prices are fine and laughably cheap when compared to the prices we have to pay in the UK or the rest of Europe.

I was in Japan recently and was tempted to purchase a couple of JEM7VWHs as they were just over half the price I could buy one for in the UK.

Re: Ibanez Prices.....

So, because guitars are more expensive in Europe, I shouldn't talk about how prices have gone up? Sorry that you Europeans pay a million dollars for a guitar, but that has nothing to do with me, so please stop using that argument because it's RIDICULOUS.
