Ibanez products numbers - the meaning

550, 620, 7620, 570, 7420, 3120, 7321 etc...

What do they mean?

I mean, do they have a PARTICULAR meaning, or is it just for classifying them, without a specific reason?

Ibanez products numbers

they seem to be numbered with no rhyme, reason or sense (to an American such as myself). They mean nothing to the consumer, but they make sense from a manufacturing standpoint...

550 - front routed RG w/ pickguard
570 - rear routed RG
620 - ?
7620 - 76xx Japanese 7-string w/ Edge
7420 - 74x0 Japanese w/ TRS tremolo YUK.
7421 - 74x1 Japanese w/ fixed bridge
7321 - 73xx Korean 7-string
7xx1 - hardtail 7
72xx - Made in China 7-string
3120 - ? high number = better ?

more clarifications are welcome  ...glen

Ibanez products numbers

750=same as 550 + matching headstock colour better PUPS and sharkfin inlays
770 same as 570 + above

565 HSS config

620 *Twin humbucker rear routed Lo-Pro
520 *As above with edge
420 *less expensive with TRS trem probably Korean

old 470's had edge trems and were decent

XX20 twin humbucker rear routed
XXX1 hardtail

7xxx seven string

However
RG2027xVV * EH! * * RG7620P
RG3120 * * Technically should be RG720

Who knows, there used to be a formula *770 was top then was 777 jems then the usa line came out but they were limited No's

I thought it was the price a 470 used to be £470
I bought my 550 for you guessed it £550
My 520 for £520

But then I got deals
