Ibanez updates their website with the NAMM 2006 models!

What a dissapointment! No maple fretboard RGs, no shocking colors (DY, SX, GR), no Wizard neck, no JEM reissues. I love Ibanez guitars, but don't understand the turn that the company has taken in regards to the release of new products.

I just don't understand why they have stop offering guitars with maple fretboards (except for the PGM).

There is a limited SA with maple board. I'll get to details when I get to work, just getting back to the hotel now [after having to go to Best Buy to buy a smart card reader cause I forgot mine!! ;??]

Unhappy

Re: Ibanez updates their website with the NAMM 2006 models!

Hey All, I must say that I am quite dissapointed as well. When I logged onto Jemsite this morning and read that Ibanez had updated their website..I looked at it right away. I was really hoping that they would continue the RG3120. Now I feel like before I can afford one from Rich they'll be all gone. Yes I am complaining. Ibanez has always said that the RG is the "Standard" in hard rock and metal guitars. Well it doesn't feel that way to me. Like a kid who was hoping to get that great toy on Christmas and got socks instead, Thats me. Yes I would love to get a J custom some day but the RG 3120 was what I would have been truly happy with. I am hoping that Ibanez does something with the RG series mid-season like some companies do. Like a surprise. TUGGEY

I like socks. But there you are.

Does this mean that there will be no '06 anniversary Jem? This means that they are sticking to the 2007 annivesary date.

I gotta say, i was quite miffed too. I wanted to see some new Jems, not just the VWH and the BRMR (which are great in their own right, but a FP reissue would be outta sight)

There's a maple fretboard RG. RG 350 MDXBK. Looks decent, would like a diff color, but the maple board is nice.

Re: Ibanez updates their website with the NAMM 2006 models!

The unfortunate thing is, many of us here are enthusiasts who are very much past the stage of entry-level guitars. What we need is a few guitars with maple boards in the mid and mid-to-high range. The absolute best solution would be if they made ALL of their guitars with a choice of maple or rosewood. 50/50. There would be absolutely no more complaints about fretboard woods ever again.

After that, all they'd need is better colours. A reintroduction of certain old-school JEM/RG colours such as FA, DY and RF... and if they were to be REALLY daring, make an RG in Loch Ness Green... I would buy one immediately, no questions asked.

And last but not least... reverse headstocks.

Basically, a LNG RG550-style guitar with maple board, offset colour-matched dots (or anything other than plain old black dots in the centre of the board), fully bound body, neck and headstock in BLACK binding (a little more original, and beautifully striking), plus reverse and colour-matched headstock...

The thought of it... is... almost... orgasm inducing!!!

EDIT: I've got it. Inlay the dots across the board starting from the bass side and ending at the treble side. Zachary Guitars do them like this and it looks killer.

Either they have no imagination or don't want to employ anybody to update the designs - very very uninspiring.

How about every dot a different color, like this?

Some of you guys here should work with the ibanez company, all they want to do is to sell the same guitar all the time
