Neck Through Body Jem - just an idea

I thought it would be nice to have an option of buying a neck-through-body Jem instead of just bolt-ons. *I thought the Jem10 was not a bolt-on, because it was listed in Guitar World's 1996 buyers guide as a through-body. *However, all the Jems (including the Jem10) that I have seen are bolt-on. *Many people beleive the tone is better on neck through-body guitars, and the joint could allow unparalled access to the upper frets.

I have a Jem10 and it is an All Access Net Joint (AANJ). *I think all the Jems are bolt on. *The old ones are a convetional neck joint and the new ones have the AANJ.

Your idea sounds cool though.

However many people also believe that the snappier sound of the bolt on sounds better. Steve seemingly included. I'm sure that if Steve desires a change to a neck-through construction after nearly 15 years that Ibanez will be happy to indulge him and one would probably be on sale shortly after.

Neck Through Body Jem

As people may know Steve vai used Jackson Soloists when he was with David Lee Roth (I think), well I read somewhere that he always damaged the necks or headstock which meant he had to get a new guitar made everytime he did this. This made him want bolt on necks as they could be replaced.

I don't know his views about the tone difference between bolt on necks and though necks?

So thats why Vai doesn't have through neck Jems.
