Push/Pull pots as standard - even more tonal variation

Was just thinking, why not issue push/pull switching as standard on all edge equiped ibanez's (say on the vol or tone switch)? Quite a few people do this mod themselves, and it doesn't hurt having it there anyway (just like a middle pickup, if you don't want it there, just screw it into the body or don't use it). Just a coil tap on both humbuckers would give rise to more tonal variation on the instrument. It's not much to add on the cost, and it just adds to the versatility.

I agree but...

For a hum single hum guitar the coil tap is automatic so you'd need a phase reversal AND coil tap function since if your on pos 2 and you active your push pull it's just the middle coil. But if it's a phase reversal too you'd get the 'other' coil on the humbucker.


But

A cool function would be (Like the Blade guitars) to have a push pull avtivating the neck humbucker so your on the bridge hum you can add the neck humbucker, *this would be cool for HSH guitars AND if you add a coil tap to one or both hums could be very cool.

How 'bout this?

HSH
3-way selector (neck-both-bridge)
1 vol. knob + 1 tone knob (for neck + bridge)
above knobs are push-pull pots for coil splitting.
additional volume knob (or mini-switch?) to turn middle pickup on/off

See, this thread is why we'll never see something like standard push-pull pots on all ibanez guitars- no one could agree what they'd want them to do. Get 'em modded yourself, it's not too expensive.

True you need a standardised mod but if they had two push pulls it would save you going and buying them
