Replacing the JS100 - Whats your idea???

This thread isn't about bashing the JS100 as we know thats been done a thousand times. It's about what Ibanez could do to change and make it a much better guitar and keep the price decent:

Made in Japan
Edge Trem
No coil tap or split (apologize for wrong terminology)
Different colors(nothing fancy just different) or at least replace one
keep the same pups(keep cost down)

Thats about it for now...........

Replacing the JS100

So you want a JS900 with the pickups from a 100?

Replacing the JS100

these ideas won't keep the price down. Coil tap switches cost at most a few dollars in bulk. How much cheaper can you get 'white' or 'black' paint? Insignificant cost savings here too.

I don't believe it is realistic to ask Ibanez to put the premium Edge/LoPros on the Korean instruments. Neither can you expect a JS100 priced model to come out of Japan.

Personally i think the JS1000 is priced very reasonably, especially for a signature model... glen

Replacing the JS100

You know I had that idea after I came to Japan Rich. Loose the JS100 and just replace it with the JS900 in the states.

Correct me if I am wrong but here I can get a JS1000 for a little over 1,100.00 dollars and the list price is 160,000 Yen which going by the recent yen rate(122yen=1.00) *would come to a little over 1,300.00.

Now a JS900 has a list price of 140,000 Yen which going by the same yen rate comes to roughly 1,147.00. Once you factor in the dealers discount off the list price it would more than likely take you to around 900.00 dollars or maybe a little more.

A brand new JS100 considering where you buy from can like in my case cost a little over 700.00 dollars. Now you think about features of the JS100 and the JS900 you start to get the picture. For roughly 200.00 dollars more(Maybe less) you get a Japan made JS with Dimarzio pups, and Edge Trem(not sure if the multi radius neck is on the JS900 cause it's all in Japanese) I'm willing to bet most people would prefer paying the extra cash. I know after buying my JS100 I definitley would.

I apologize if I'm off base here. Just trying to make a point. Thx  *

Replacing the JS100

You've made a good point, I would love to see the 900 replace the 100, but I doubt it would hit the price point they're trying to achieve by offering the 100.

btw, I don't even know if the 900 has the multiradius neck LOL

Replacing the JS100

lots of good points.

What this boils down to ultimately is the opinion that ibanez should not make JS (or JEM) guitars in Korea and most of us would prefer to pay a bit more for the "real thing". In this case the JS1000 instead of the 100.

Your opinion is heard and the topic can now be closed... glen
