Signature Models - Put more out
Ibanez needs more signature models. They don't to be expensive but their needs to be something other than '80s guitarist.

Signature Models
There's at least 1 new artist signature model coming out next year. They have 2 spots to fill with the absence of JP and FG. I guess the better question is how MANY signature lines does a company need? Is more than a few for each disipline of playing enough, or too many? How many sig lines does Fender have? 5? 10? But they're still all Strats

And they are all suited for a different sound and styles and I would like to see Ibanez go fenders rout. Just because Vai has a model does not mean it should end their. Why should someone settle for a Via when their style Korn or Offspring? The korn models are not universes or rg7's but a mix of the best features of both. Besides alot of people at this site seem to want more seven string models anyway.

I think it's good to have as many signature lines as possible because everybody can benefit from the ideas and possibilities thought for the top
guitar players
. IMO what *Ibanez needs is new players to expand the diversity in the models and lines. They should talk to fender or esp or whatever endorsers and put them in contract. But to convince these people, I think a lot of R&D work must be done to come up with good basis models.
That was my $.02

I don't know if it's the defection of JP and FG (and others before them), but without the variety of signature models the Ibanez catalogue seems to be getting pretty stale with the exception of the Prestige line... I mean, it used to be you could look forward to something new and exciting from
Hoshino USA
every year or so - now we're looking to Japan and J Customs for the really cool guitars, while here in the US they keep pulling the coolest guitars from the catalog (JEM7BSB anyone?). Most of what's left to us here is pretty much white bread, and the nicest guitars in the line (like the JEM7V) have been around so long that they're almost too familiar... *my $.02

I know, but I think that one's a surprise so we'll let Ibanez surprise us at NAMM :-) BUT the reps have been a little loose lipped about a new Jem model and there are many dealer personel I've heard this from, so I might as well state it here, after all, this is Jemsite
I'm figuring it's a replacement for the DBK, but have heard it won't be ready for release at NAMM. Who knows for sure though.

I don't care much for signature models. First off, the prices are jacked. They need to pay the artist for each one sold, and they always tack on a few more greens simply because they can, and people will still buy it. Secondly, I don't want to play someone else's guitar. That's one reason why I like RG's more than JEM's. It's like I can make the RG *my* model, heh. I'd rather play something with no name on it than Satch's name on it.
