So why does the xiphos 6 have a trem and the 7 a hardtail?

good question, huh? my other guitar player was stoked to see the xiphos when it first came out. he almost bought one until i told him ibanez was coming out with a 7 string version. he was set to get it until we found out it was a hardtail. WTF? he ended up getting a custom ESP made. ibanez, i own over 50 guitars and an overwhelming majority are japanese made ibanez's, 4 being pre 2002 prestiges. i personally love rg's, but ibanez has dropped the ball on the weird shaped guys who like trems.
i am sure i am not the only one who feels this way. with as many of the endorsers playing xiphos guitars, please expand the line. i'd love to see a 7 string iceman or destroyer with a trem.

It's probably because hardtails rule . . .

Personally If I was gonna buy a 7 I'd want a hardtail, so I'd only ever need one (changing tunings would be way easier).

+1. But I do see his point. Most Ibanez players like trems.!

I second the 7 string Iceman with a trem.

probably because the Edge-III doesn't exist in a 7-string version? anyway, that kind of guitar should be only fixed bridge, to me. they're more on rhythmics and riffs than flamboiant soloing.

I would not have bought my white Xiphos if it was a hardtail.

A 7 string Xiphos or Iceman would be dubbed a prestige if it had an edge pro 7.... Hmm more begging for trem equipped metal guitars then? Carry on.

They could put a ZR-7 on it like the S7320 and keep it MIIndo. I'd hate to see what a Prestige 7 string neckthrough Xiphos would cost. More than it would be worth under Ibanez's current pricing, IMO.
