Where are the maple fretboards?

This isn't meant to be a long-winded discussion, but why does Ibanez produce only one model with a maple fretboard (and a low-line Indonesian-made model to boot) these days? I had been under the impression that maple fretboards are quite popular and have always thought that they were far more eyecatching than a simple rosewood board. Thanks in advance!

Re: Where are the maple fretboards?

i think theres will be many WHY questions to ibanez.
why no maple fretboard
why you offer millions of different shades of black
why theres no wizard necks
why theres no original edge
why ibanez never listens?

i dont know how to answer you, but i would like to know. I m a fan of maple board too. Maybe rosewood is easier for them to obtain? And large quantity avaliable?

Who knows...Ibanez has made me angry here lately. I probably won't be buying another one.

If Ibanez never listens,
why bother asking?

I always forget about that one as it's trem-less... I was just curious about the reason for not having any models (or near enough) with maple boards. I don't expect Ibanez to jump up and start making them right away just because I asked (although that would be most welcome as well!).

Re: Where are the maple fretboards?

That's one thing that bothered me, I REALLY wanted Maple on the RG550 Black. But I suppose I can settle for Rosewood.

Yes I know RFR and DY come with Maple, but by the time I had the money to buy one of them, RFR and DY had disappeared off the face of the Earth.

Re: Where are the maple fretboards?

I'm a really big fan of maple boards. It's too bad that everything is rather boring. I guess Ibanez is in the age of black and white, and if it's colored it looks more like something you see on bass boats with all the metal flakes in it...

Re: Where are the maple fretboards?

Mr.Tak Hosono already answered this old question:

"Hoshino USA does extensive market research from many different sources before making any guitar production decisions. You may not agree with our maple fingerboard option availability on our guitars but this is very much the result from our market research conclusions. I'm in very much agreement with most of Jem site guys regarding this issue but I'm ONLY represent our endorsees, Custom shop, and Jem site guys." Tak Hosono.

it's some years now we're complaining about the lack of maple boards, they do know about, and i'm positive they're been willing to add some maple boarded guitars. so please stop bothering about.

can some mods please close this useless and redundant thread? thanks.

How is it redundant if they're still not listening? I think you should check your attitude at the door, buddy.

And "Market Research" said that there was a Market for 8 String guitars. Which there probably is, but how ****ing niche no?

So Ibanez are saying that (In their actions), that there are more people out there who wanted an Eight string guitar than people who want maple boarded 6 strings.

maybe not, but it was a chance to show innovation, and I applaud them for it.
