Re: Advanced music theory test
Amature/Pop Musician
Congratulations! You scored 33!
You know about as much music theory as the average musician. Perhaps you're a collage music major who's a bit rusty. Maybe you play for fun or professionally in the popular music world. You know a B-flat and an A-sharp sound the same and that's good enough for you. After all if they sound the same they're the same note, right!? It doesn't matter which you play, it'll sound the same to the audience!
I failed.. Damnit

Classical Musician
Congratulations! You scored 50!
You know about as much music theory as the classical musician. You've probably been to music school, or studied theory in your spare time. Perhaps you're a music major in collage. You know enough to get by there. You're not as anal retentive as most theorists, or composers. You didn't retain every detail, but you've probably been schooled in music.
It's funny that he misspelled college. There were a few other spelling error on there I noticed as well.

Lots of things on this test that weren't covered in Music Theory 1-IV/Jazz Theory I-II.

I scored 50, that just means I am a pretty good guesser.

Re: Advanced music theory test
I scored 40, though I guessed most answers except for some of the set theory/history Qs and the easier ones about scales.
And it's "Rite of Spring" for $^@# sake!

Re: Advanced music theory test
54, but I guessed at a LOT of them. Silly test, IMO. Lots of silly stuff like dates & classical "who's who", and transposition that you can get from whatever notation program you're using at the moment. And the real theory was stuff that you'd never see in reality, handpicked because it was harder. No secondary dominants, score reading, very little chord analysis.
6 years of theory, and I never heard of the prime thing or the matrix. Is that stuff new?

Re: Advanced music theory test
That test hurt my head! Hexatonic whaaaa? Converting notes to numbers?!!
Yet with some knowledge and (I'm assuming) a lot of lucky guesses, I scored 48 - Classical Musician.
