Anyone tried this Alien Love Secrets Book? - It has backing

How are the transcriptions (accurate?) and how do the backing tracks sound, can you still hear the guitar, or are they good enough to play along with live if your band can't handle the songs! *(yeah, right, like I could handle 'em either)

well, the vamps are close, but they've been changed a little also. *If I were you, I'd fine a friend who has the cd and copy it and just get the ALS tab book.

Actually I feel this book is kind of a rip off. The transcriptions found on it are the exact transcriptions found on the original ALS book, and furthermore whole songs are not transcribed, only sections! And another thing the backing tracks are not the ones on the album, sure you hear the same sort of things but all of them have different structures, like for example, on Die To Live the backing track starts off from the first solo. So much for playing along to the majestic beginning.

A Good bet is to go with midi tracks, I have quite a few with me, and I also have a full band backing to Die to live and FTLOG.

Anyone want some?

Chris.

I bought the ALS naked vamps and was dissappointed that the songs were all rearranged.

I have since collected about 252 MP3 backing tracks including the Vai tunes:

The Animal
The Riddle
FTLOG
Die to Live
Touching Tongues
Jiboom
The Boy From Seattle
Hand on Heart
The Attitude Song
The Crying Machine

The files are BIG so I can't email them. If you are interested ICQ me and we'll work something out.

Rick

just a suggestion...for those of you who have the tracks email them to yourself and keep them in your mailbox. that way you can just foward them to everyone so you dont have to wait for the upload time....in any case...i'd love to get a hold of some of the vai backing tracks.

if you guys have the time my email is guitarulze@aol.com

thanks

I don't think that they can fit in the ftp...I tried to upload the FTLOG backing the other time...too big apparently.

ICQ is still the best for sending files. Heck my friend even sent me an Eric Johnson and Michael Lee Firkins video the other day!

Chris.

One last question; *In the "real" ALS tab book, is it tabbed for a 7-string or a 6-string, and what about the P&W tab book as well?

thanks

The songs on PAW that are played on a 7 are tabbed for one...i've never looked at the ALS book so I can't say

Since there is only one song on ALS that requires a 7, which of course is Ya Yo Gakk, the ALS book transcribes that for 7 string.

I corrected the ICQ address in my profile. It should work now, but fair warning my DSL connection has been REALLY flakey recently. It was down most of today.

If someone has an FTP where I can upload a few hundred megs, I will upload the backing tracks. Otherwise, I'll look into Aimster or some other filesharing client. Some have requested CDs or email! I'd really prefer to try FTP or filesharing first!
