AUDACITY 1.2.6 Question....

People, I downloaded the Audacity programme to slow down a piece of guitar solo to know WTF he's playing. I managed to slow down the piece of music and loop it etc but it's not in pitch. What should I do?

You need specific software to slow down a clip and keep the pitch, audacity is very basic (you cant eve import midi) so i wouldnt expect it to be able to do that.

Re: AUDACITY 1.2.6 Question....

cheers cobber, i finally managed it but it wasn't obvious. I used plug-ins to change the speed/tempo/pitch but that was way too fiddly.

turns out that the simple menu choice "change tempo" automaticaly changes the tempo of the song without changing the pitch.

i was expecting seriously basic software when i downloaded this, it's much more involved than what i expected. i could've done this on my protools mbox would've been just as 'easy' i suspect.

Re: AUDACITY 1.2.6 Question....

Yeah I just discovered this software too, it's great for slowing stuff down. I've got Yngwie licks down to a quarter speed which is great to get the timing. I Got 1/3 or Far Beyond the Sun down in a couple of hours.

The other thing I did was bring Far Beyond the Sun up to standard pitch so that I wouldn't have to go setting up one of my guitars to Eb tuning.

Re: AUDACITY 1.2.6 Question....

you can change the pitch too. it's in the same menu as the skower downer.
so after you slow it down. figure out how many 1/2 steps you are at and raise the pitch the same amount. or just use the amazing slower downer.
