Blues scales.

New to the guitar, I've just learned the blues scales. Two of them, right? At least that's what my poster of "every scale known to man" says.

Two questions. 1) What is the difference between the first scale and the second scale? What are their respective applications.

2) Now, let's say I loop a 12 bar blues. A, D and E. Let's say I'm using the first scale (1,4;1,2,3; 1,3; 1,3,4; 1,4; 1,4). While the loop is strumming the A chord, I'm picking out the scale beginning at the fifth fret?

Sorry to be so vague, but I'm trying to put all this together.

There really isnt a difference, you are playing the same notes, just in a different order.
So starting on the 5th fret on the Low E with pattern 1 you are playing A, C, D, D#, E, G, A, , Pattern 2 is the same note, but you are starting on the C and playing C, D, D#, E, G, A.
