Can anyone help me with this? (technique question)

A while ago I saw Alex Skolnik live (with TSO), and he was tapping between his pickups (he was using a Les Paul). I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on doing this, and if anyone has any decent tapping patterns for doing something like this.

I think I've heard him do this before. I think he is tapping a harmonic on the string, kind of like in a tapping situation, but instead of it being a hammered/pulled note its a harmonic.

unfortunately I don't have any excercises as I don't use this technique and I'm also not 100# sure this is what he was doing when you saw him, but its my best guess from what i remember of his playing.

It could very well be Harp harmonics...

the note is plucked with a finger on your picking hand whlie a finger on the same hand is gently pressing against the same string to make it a harmonic. Eric Johnson does that alot.
