Re: Def Leppard Lets get rocked solo

I can't remember that song having a guitar solo, I thought the solo was done with a synth. It's been a long time since I've heard that song. Ashton, how old are you, if you don't mind me asking? Def Leppard has a bunch of songs that sound better than let's get rocked, IMO.

Re: Def Leppard Lets get rocked solo

Just start on a C# and end on a high G# bending up to A#. If it's played in F. That was how my acoustic was tuned, so it might be another key on a tuned guitar.

Re: Def Leppard Lets get rocked solo

Def Leppard rules. I think they are having a resurgence in popularity because I went to one of their 13,000 seat sold out shows last year and there were a ton of kids in the 18-25 year old bracket.

Let's get rocked does have a great solo. There are a ton of other great ones too. Women, and Animal come to mind.

Re: Def Leppard Lets get rocked solo

I wouldn't go so far as saying they rule. The only reason they're on demand right now is because of sampling... I personally cannot stand music that is sampled. To me sampled music tells me the artist has no more ideas and all he/she can do is play someone else's work with a different key here and there and get paid for it. In the case of Def Leppard, all these new kid bands are replaying their songs, etc.

I think def leppard is one of the best rock and roll bands on earth. They just rocked my world at gods of metal last year and they completely blow out Whitesnake!

Don't let anyone here tell you Def Leppard sucks! they are great and still sound great live! Phill Collen is a great guitar player. The solo is a lot of fun to play, the song is in the key of Bb and it uses several Bluesy/Funky licks and phrases to spice it up. The solo is derived from the Dbm scale
and it starts off with some really cool double stop licks that need to be played rhythmically and climaxes into a really cool 32 note flurry, that part is very tricky and requires you to work it up to speed with a metronome.
All in all a very tasty and brief 4 bar Guitar solo, sometimes I post this type of stuff on Youtube, PM me if you need more help.

Re: Def Leppard Lets get rocked solo

Def Leppard - great band, melodic songs, awesome harmonies and well thought out guitar parts. Phil Collen is a pretty decent guitarist too. Between them and Journey it's a toss up.
