he flicks the string, dumps the whammy bar, and when the strings are flapping he does a natural harmonic on the 12, 7,5,4,3 or 2 fret and pulls the bar back up...

thats not what he does in "becoming" though, it's a whammy pedal effect

i remember reading an interview where Dime said he gets the tech to do the whammy pedal bit cause he'd rather rock out to the riff than be standing on a pedal
