DROP D
Could someone show me cool ways of using this tuning or recommend songs or bands that use it, like Vai on bad horsie or there is a fire in the house or Dream Theater's Home.

For Bad Horsie remember to drop the 6th string (low D) another whole step to C.

Isn't BAD HORSIE tuned to a dropped C tuning, so that the guitar is tuned down a whole step and the low "E" string is then tuned down yet another whole step?

Some of my favorite Drop-D songs are by finger eleven. "Slow Chemical" is just way too fun to play. So are all the songs on "The Greyest of Blue Skies". IMHO, they're the kings of drop-D.
Something I like doing is playing the chords underneath (simple root-fifth power chords) using the d-string to play a melody over top. Using chords like:
d---2--4--3--5
a---2--2--2--2
d---2--2--2--2, etc.

One of my favorite aspects of dropped D tuning is the ease in playing stacked 5ths chords which sound incredibly full and thick with a ton 'o drive:
E - x
B - 6 root
G - 5 5th
D - 3 root
A - 3 5th
D - 3 root

Listen to King's X. Ty Tabor plays some incredible drop D blues/metal.

True dat.
Another good one (actually drop-D down a step) is System of a Down. See "ATWA", or "Aerials".
