Ear Training

Does anybody know a good way to train ears to recognize notes? (i.e. have someone play some random note and be able to say 'That's a B') etc.

Re: Ear Training

I can usually name notes out of the blue. I'm not pitch perfect or anything, I just remember the chorus to "Black Dog" in my head - 'da na na naaaa na, da na na naaaaaaaa na' - and know that the first note is an A, second F#, third G, etc. If I can't get a G from that, I'll remember "I Shot The Sheriff". 'Hey Joe' is pretty good for C, G, D, A and E. So I'll reference songs I know with notes I know, with notes I'm listening to .

Re: Ear Training

band in a box

It has some ear training features including "pitch invaders"
It sends ufo's down from the top of the screen, they make a sound and you have to guess the pitch to shoot them down. it works !

No fun playing with one of my friends,... he has perfect pitch :S
