Favorite instructional videos?

Hey i was just wondering what some of everyone's favorite instructional videos are?
Ones where you either learned a lot, or ones that have some great playing on them, or perhaps there are some that have both?

Mine are:

1-Scott Henderson- "Jazz Fusion Improvisation" and "Melodic Phrasing"
THe first one is excellent if you want to learn the theory behind a lot of jazz and fusion soloing, ie what to play over certain chords, how to approach playing over changes. The second is a good wake-up call to the fact that how you phrase what you're playing is often more important than the actual notes.

2-Joe Diorio- "Creative Jazz Guitar"
This is a great video for giving you new and interesting ways to practice. He gives a few licks, but this more about creativity than theory.

These are the 2 that have helped me the most. I also own the following:
-Mike Stern
-Hiram Bullock
-Larry Mitchell
-Open Jam With George Lynch
These 4 are great to watch the player do their thing, and each has a few interesting things to practice, but i didn't get a huge amount of info out of them.

Over the years i've seen a few others (Lynch's REH, David Chastain, Michael Angelo, Holdsworth, Greg Howe), but i can't remember enough about them to have an opinion.
peace

If you play any blues at all, check out Joe Diorio's blues lesson. Sick. But a good lesson.

The best vids for me...

Paul Gilbert - IR I & II.
John Petrucci - RD.
Steve Morse - Complete styles.

Best ones I've seen:

Rock Discipline
Both Shawn Lane videos (mostly for the jaw dropping factor, but there are some cool doable things there too)
Both Scott Henderson videos
Tuck Andress' video is pretty interesting too

Re: Favorite instructional videos?

My absolute favorite is Brett Garsed's Rock Fusion, mainly because I'm a hybrid picker and watching this video was a big profound turning point in my playing.

I also love Scott Henderson's videos....those are definitely a must as well as Frank Gambables speed picking video.

I love Shawn Lane's and Paul Gilbert's videos but only for watching because their kind of playing is something definitely out of my style and league.

But I recommend Brett's video even if you don't hybrid pick....there's some great ideas in there and plus his sense of phrasing should be studied.

Hey, what's the name of that video? I don't think i've ever heard of it, and Diorio is one of favorites.

Re: Favorite instructional videos?

I wish Greg Howe did another instructional video, his playing is so much different now than back then during his REH vid. I would love to hear his insights on improvising in a rock/jazz fusion context.
