Figuring Out Chords From Piano Sheet Music?

So i've been going through a lot of piano songs lately, and a lot of them don't have chords above the notes- so how do I figure out which chords to play and when? Thanks!

Look at the notes they show and play the chords that those notes make.

I don't get it.

Are you planning to play a piano-guitar duet?

Based on the piano notes, you will know the key. Based on the melody, you'll know what chords to play and also the timing.

Worst case, you can play a chord version of the note on the "1" of every measure.

No, I was just reading through sheet music that was meant for Piano...and I wanted to sing along with some of the songs and learn their progressions and everything, but a lot of them don't have chord symbols, so I just need to know how to figure it out- I think Cid covered it. You're right, I can figure out what key its in, I just didn't know if there was a for sure way of knowing which chord to play.

Thanks though!

Use this to correspond with the piano chords. They will usually put the chord over the beat when the chord comes in the measure. if that makes sense.

Hey thanks Kenny! But by chord symbols I meant just telling which chord to play, just like " Gm " so, I had no idea, just the treble and bass clefs to go off of. But I guess Cid covered what I needed, unless there's more in depth or other instructions! Thanks!
