Fret Reach

It's kind of a random post, but i'm curious; i'm able to have my index finger on the first fret, and easily reach the 6th fret with my pinky, and the 7th fret with some effort. My friends that see this think it's really odd, but for me it's normal. So my question; is it normal? Is it a good thing?

Re: Fret Reach

I can't reach the 6th fret with my pinky unless I take my index finger off of the first fret and tilt my hand, but then again I'm a girl so my hands are smaller. But the fifth fret is a breeze.

Tell them that if they had superior genetics, such as yourself, then they'd be able to reach the 7th fret too. I can reach it as well. I can also reach the 8th fret with my other hand.

Re: Fret Reach

WTF, are you people giants or something? I can just reach the 6th but that's as far as I can go. I know Courtney is about 43 feet tall so I guess she has huge hands, I dunno. I have long fingers but as I said, the 6th is my limit.

Re: Fret Reach

LOL...No, not giants, just genetically superior! I can get to the 7th fret, but by no means is it playable. The 6th is easily playable for me though. But the last part of my statement was meant to be a joke, "I can also reach the 8th fret with my other hand."

By the way, I've got long skinny fingers....probably because I'm tall - just over 6'2".

Re: Fret Reach

That's the next question, what scale neck are you getting 7 on? I was doing it on a 24 fret, RG2550. I didn't try my S, but it might be alittle easier on a 22 fret neck.

Re: Fret Reach

I think the largest octave I can do that's playable is a 2-9 on the low E and A strings.

I wish I had fingers like Gilbert though....I sure wish I could hammer on/pull off on the 15th with my finger anchored on the 9th o.O.....Thats on the High E btw.

ditto here. Someone asked me for a picture to prove that once before, and I think it's on my FTP, I just can't remember where.

I couldn't really do 8p1 licks in a solo, exactly, but I can physically make the stretch on my UV.
