Fretboard and Tapping

I have two questions:

1) *How much does a scalloped fretboard affect your playing/the feel of the guitar/technique required?

2) *How can I improve my tapping technique?

1. *A LOT! *I found that I could bend notes to the sky! *Of course, I also found that I would make notes go sharp if I pressed too hard on the strings. *It was a double-edged sword for me.
2. *Practice, especially with yout guitar unplugged; that will make you do it more precisely because you will only be able to hear it if you do it right.

practice your tapping a lot. *Don't worry about speed until each tapped note is as clear as a picked one.

Also, try using all your fingers
tap with your index, middle, ring and pinky

Fretboard and Tapping

I scalloped the fretboard on my yam*ha but I'm finding it hard to get a feel for it as the necks on $200 guitars generally suck anyway. Like bachle7 said, too much pressure and your notes end up sharp, I never really found this to be a big problem because i have a pretty light touch.
* I haven't been doing as much tapping as i used too but like everyone's saying start slow and make sure each can be hear each note clearly before bumping the speed up. You want to be able to play it well slowly before increasing your speed.
Like they say walk before you run.

PS- thats $200 brand new

I wouldn't practice with the guitar unplugged. In fact, I would turn the sound up. There are lots of unwanted sounds that you want to be able to mute when you're learning a new technique. If you're practicing it with your guitar unplugged, it will seem to you that your technique is perfect. But if you raise your volume you'll be able to improve on the accuracy and also in muting all the unwanted strings noises that you cannot hear unplugged.
