Get Back
I'm trying to figure out which scales I can use to solo over this Beatles song
My friend says the song is in the key of A major, and that Lennon uses an Am pentatonic, but I'm using an Am petatonic all the way up and down the neck and most places don't sound right to me! Which other scales could I use?? Don't want to play it exactly the same.

The solo he played is more based around A major than A pent. A blues works also, although a pet peeve of mine is
guitar players
who can't solo in major keys.

For inside sounds, try A maj / F# min pentatonic. That should do the trick. A mixolydian should work as well (A, B, C#, D, E, F#, G).
For outside, wholetone, alt (A, Bb, C, Db, Eb, F, G), or symmetrical diminished ****é...
