Guitar Pro
Anyone have any experience with Guitar Pro? I've downloaded the trial and it seems decent but I wonder what folks here think about the non-trial version the price. and whether or not it's worth. Thanks.

Re: Guitar Pro
I bought it. $60 is chump change. I don't use it all that much but it is a good program and it's a good idea to save your ideas in tab. And if you don't read music and are in a band (or whatever), it will convert the tab to sheet music as well which forces you to learn something about timing.

Where can I download it for free? I downloaded a trial version that is supposed to be limited to 15 days.

I never thought about it until now, but that is incredibly true.

Re: Guitar Pro
Thanks everyone. I really like the product. It's already helped me learn a piece of an Extreme solo that could not figure out.

It is still illegal. It is $60, hardly worth it to steal.
Also pretty much anyone I know that actually needs Photoshop has access to a legitimate copy. Other than maybe freelance graphic artists, that program is generally provided by the employer to anyone that actually needs it.

I wasn't questioning it was possible. It is still illegal. Considering how insanely easy it is to track who downloads what on the internet, and the fact those records don't go away, it isn't exactly a bright idea.
The only people that actually need Photoshop either are freelancers that are well paid enough that it isn't a big cost or people that work for companies that already own it. Anyone else may as well just use GIMP, which actually is free, because you aren't going to be dealing with the kinds of things where the differences between the two actually matter.
It doesn't seem very bright to me to steal software in an extremely easily trackable manner when you can get free software that does almost the same thing. Guitar Pro is a bit nicer than say Power Tab, but they both still do the same thing in the end.

Re: Guitar Pro
The matter of this thread isn't discussing how cool you are for torrenting GP/if you can get away with it/other pointless discussions about torrenting that no one cares about
The guy wants to know if GP is worth buying for the money, or if he should save it and try something else, simple as that
Catbert, have you ever tried TabIt? It helped me learn guitar very easily and it's only $20 and has a pretty big amount of content from it's subscribers

Re: Guitar Pro
I, unlike some of our less-than-honest members, purchased Guitar Pro and it was well worth the money.
You can get some really well done tabs for it (more than just the guitar part) and I love using it like a uber-fancy metronome too.
I haven't found anything else out there that touches it, for free or for money.
