Could someone tell me what is a half diminished ?

Same as a m7(b5).

minor = 1 b3 5
Minor 7 = 1 b3 5 b7
Half-dim = 1 b3 b5 b7
Dim = 1 b3 b5 bb7

so Cm7(b5) and a C half diminished are the same. C, Eb, Gb, Bb.

It's usually noted with a small circle (like diminished) but with a slash thru it. I couldn't find one on the computer, but i usually use it just to save myself some pen strokes (and space on handwritten charts!).

anything with major AND minor must be pure evil

however,

I do enjoy the look of bemusement on peoples faces when you say your using such and such m7(maj7) chord and soloing using such and such a mode.. and they're like... whatever...
