Re: how do you work out notes per second...
o well this is how its done for me..
i did 4 notes per click...@ 165bpm..
so hmm heres the formula..
165 x 4/60= 11nps.
165 = BPM
4 = Notes per click
/60 = divided by 60 seconds cuz 1 min = 60 secs
hope that helps

Re: how do you work out notes per second...
I have an Excel file to help figure notes-per-second. I tried to display it here, but the tabs came out all screwed up, so I edited this post until I can figure out a way to post it properly.
Cheers,
Bert

According to that formula I can downpick around 7 nps. Very interesting.

Re: how do you work out notes per second...
I usually think it as a matter of sextuplets. If I can play sextuplets at 120, then I'm playing 12 notes per second

That's only a question if you put a question mark on the end of it.
My top speed was (I don't know what it is now) 16ths at 240, which is the same as sextuplets at 160.
Formula;
BPM divided by (60/notes per beat)

Re: how do you work out notes per second...
When I used to work at a
guitar shop
, we used to have a device that worked out nps....you play into it and it will give you a bpm reading of what you are playing or something. I think it was a tuner or something with that as a cool extra.
