how to learn sweeping?

hey you guitar heros out there. i'm trying to play some sweep licks or sth. like that and i don't get, how to play these with a finger roll or over chords where i have to roll. it kills me cause i'm quite a good player, speed and such things and runs through scales and so on. it kills me not beeing able to play super fast sounding sweep licks!! the stings often ring and destroy the sound of the sweeping. i guess you have some tips how to train the roll and the right hand motion!

Practice and practice. Learn how to let go of each string right after you play the note. It's kinda like playing a chord, except each note sounds individual. At first you'll have trouble getting out of that "chord sound". But eventually you'll learn how to time your left hand with your right hand and sweep effectively.
