In fact classical guitar is easy to sight read.

Mmmm i don't think so..... you also have the problem to have two or sometimes more voices running simoultaneously

Anyone here also a prospective GIT student? *I am heading out there next spring and am looking to make some contacts who will be there, or for anyone to give me the skinny on how to get ready.

this is an interesting topic to me..I can read OK< but definitely not sight-read like I should...it takes practice and time and patience, like anything

besides getting into school another reason to learn to sight-read is to play in certain Jazz or Classical ensembles OR if you want to be a studio session guitarist

I know quite a few musicians who put down tablature, but tab really has its place in guitar learning, especially when learning advanced stuff like Vai's music or Satch's music

two handed tapping and whammy bar dive bombs are much easier read in tablature than standard notation
