JOE STUMP-NEO CLASSICAL GUITAR 1-----doesn't come with tab but plenty of cool picking excercises for the advanced player.

MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO-SPEED KILLS 2----really did help my speed and picking.great warmup excersises inside too.use them everytime i practice

JOE STUMP-CHOP BUILDER-just got it.verdict is still out.cool picking stuff i never thought of

PAUL GILBERT-INTENSE ROCK 1 AND 2----essential.ya wanna build stamina and chops.must have.i work with this alot

Re: INSTRUCTIONAL DVS/VHS YOU'VE USED

*Watching concerts and youtube videos/listening to songs

Doug Doppler- Diatonic Theory and Harmony

Paul Gilbert- Terrifying Guitar Trip

Petrucci- Rock Discipline

Some Vinnie Moore thing I bought

Rusty Cooley- Chops From Hell Videos (the patterns are better without the video since the video is more him shredding them than explaining very well)

edit: forgot to mention the biggest thing that helped me was tabbing out my own songs and learning them slow

Frank Gambale - Chops builder

Still working my way through this one. It's essentially an aerobics video for guitar. Pretty interesting and will help solidify some techniques. Jury is still out, but it seems to be helping.

i've got the gilbert one's, the petrucci one and some random bloke plays jimmy page. the problem i find with them is i dont sit in front of the tv with my guitar and watch them, i sit in front of the tv eating choccy biccies, crisps and drinking coffee bamboozled by their maddening speed!

The David T Chastain video is called Progressive Metal Guitar. It is a great video. He is an underrated guitarist.

I have been working on Rusty Cooley's Fretboard Autopsy 1. Has anyone got or seen Mark Tremonti's instructional dvd?

Jon Finn has a really short DVD in his book "Advanced Modern Rock Guitar Improvisation" Not really a chops-builder, but worth checking out.
