jazz // blues : what to study?

hello,

I recently came across a hong kongese guitarist.
he was fantastic: his style was jazz/blues fusion. very dynamic and punchy.

I'd like to learn how to sound like that but I really have no clues about which artist / group I should listen to and then study...

would you have any suggestion please?

you should check out Scott Henderson if you can get hold of some of his material..ive got his fusion album and thats pretty good. Ive been told his blues album is very good but I was unable to get a hold of it.
