Re: Joey Dahlia mini School (Killer guitar lessons)

jesus christ! what stupid things you all talk about. joey these people wouldn't be so hard on you if you hadn't been this arrogant. And there always is the fact that you have been fired from vai.com . anyway just stop using your sharp tongue, because if you do so, they rightfully are hard on you.

and the others, maybe he just wanted to contribute with his lessons. Good or not, his guitar lessons or his guitar playing should not be made fun of. I don't know how he plays, haven't downloaded any of it. But even if he just sucks and the sounds that comes out from his guitar could shatter a glass, just don't be so hard on him.

Now i know i'm not a mod or something, but the conversation is just so stupid. but i have to add as i'm reading your posts here i'm ROTF, you guys are so creative. anyway, just cut it out...

btw, don't be hard on me for writing this...

Cheers

Re: Joey Dahlia mini School (Killer guitar lessons)

Joey, my mom says she can't tell me apart from Satriani or Vai. The difference here is, though, I don't believe her. (Well, I guess I believe her, but I know what's just because she doesn't know any better and can't tell the difference between mediocre quasi-shred guitar and truely masterful guitar playing, and is blindly supportive of her son anyway.

You want to hear some of my stuff? I've got a few old tunes up at www.purevolume.com/drewpeterson The one at the top, "A Pagan's Prayer," is the peice I wrote to go against you in www.guitarwar.com and as such it's a pretty rough improvisation, couple of bad notes here and there, just going for guitar texture, I guess. The other two are from a CD I released on mp3.com, and are about three years old. accordingly, they're a little sloppy and maybe not as musically mature as I'd like them to be.

Say whatever you want, I have a pretty thick skin and a realistic understanding of my own strengths and weaknesses, so frankly I doubt you can offend me- I'm comfortable with where I am and where I'm going. Go nuts, dude.

Joey, like I said, I'm not too worried about what you'll have to say.

Probably a bit over eight years, started halfway through my freshman yeah in high school, got serious senior year/freshman year in college, and I'm just over a year out now, so we'll call it about eight and a half, nearly nine. And I've heard "Bed5" already, thanks all the same.

Re: Joey Dahlia mini School (Killer guitar lessons)

You have pics from '88 on your site- by my count, as it's now '05, that's at least 17. Apparently you've been taking a few of Cheney's "Post-9/11 Math" classes?

Like I said before, it's not that you're BAD, per se, it's just you need to come to terms with the fact that guys out there who can play circles around you are a dime a dozen, and start carrying yourself accordingly.

Every once in a while you hit an interesting lick - you do a lot with stacked 5ths, which is a sound I've always liked - but I think you could grow a lot as a player if you spent some time transcribing players known for their phrasing, guys like David Gilmore, Santana, even Joe Satriani. Listening to your music, I don't really feel like you're "saying" anything, you know? Learn to make the guitar speak.

Re: Joey Dahlia mini School (Killer guitar lessons)

(I'm offering this as polite constructive criticism- please take it as such and listen to what I have to say. Or, if you want, be offended, but at least try to learn from it. Currently, your ego is your biggest impediment to your progress as a guitarist, and is only holding your growth back)
