Re: K'm Pee Du Wee is the New Stairway to Heaven!!

if you want to scare off all those poser emo/metal teenagers that work in guitar stores and try to tell you about stuff they know nothing about, just approach a whammy bar.

they'll flee like water on oil.

but when i'm testing a guitar i always make sure i do some fast picking, fast legato, bending, vibrato, test the whammy (if applicable), play some nice extended chords, some string skipping and some heavy riffing. pretty much a little bit of every technique and area of playing.

Re: K'm Pee Du Wee is the New Stairway to Heaven!!

In about 12 years I didn't go to a guitar shop. Here in my country there are always a bunch of dumb metal teens playing metallica everywhere. They always play wrong and out of tune. That's why they're dumb. It's really annoying.
Besides that sellers know nothing about what they're selling so why going to a guitar shop?
I know already what guitars I like so I buy them through my puter.
Guitar shops never more.
Hey that's a cool name for a song LOL

haha... the "can I help you?" riff.

Mine is tender surrender. I would imagine the guys working there thinking here's that guy that comes in all the time but never buys anything. Largely due to the bay.

Any Satch that pops into my head at the time. At the moment, it would be likely to be Back to Shalla-Bal. I remember doing Building the Church once too. Never whole songs though, just important bits.

Re: K'm Pee Du Wee is the New Stairway to Heaven!!

I just practice my 7 string sweeps and 8 finger tapping. People turn their heads and usually say: OMFG I CAN'T EVEN DO 3 STRING SWEEPS, THIS GUY CAN DO 7!!!!!!!!! Then there was this one time I was playing scarified, some random guy picked up a guitar and started playing Bruce's part of the song. Best duet with a guy I've never met before.

Me and a band mate of mine did that, next to this guy who thought he was "all that" and he could barely play the riff. We tried to keep straight faces....

Red face

Re: K'm Pee Du Wee is the New Stairway to Heaven!!

From my days of selling musical instruments and managing music stores I developed a little riffage/noodling piece that I always used to play to demonstrate an instrument. I had played the piece so many times, with minor adjustments/differences over the years that it became a part of what I did. I never realized until a buddy of mine, also way better guitarist than I was, who worked with me for many years pointed it out to me by mimicking the very piece at a recording session we were at. No one else got the joke but we were rolling on the floor laughing our @sses off!! I still play this piece to warm up every time I pick the guitar up to do something...

Never, Eruption tapping totally impresses nowadays

And after reading this thread I am now working on my ultra extremely impressive guitar store song.

It'll be like the Serrana arppegios, except easier to play, faster, and more key changes

Seems like most of you guys visit shops just to impress people. xD

I personally don't feel all that comfortable when people start to focus and talk about me when I'm trying out an amp for example. Expectations start to build up, and I feel like a one-trick guitarist if I happen to repeat something. I came in to try out some new gear, I leave feeling stupid.
