Re: K'm Pee Du Wee is the New Stairway to Heaven!!
I usually play some little pieces that I have picked up, mostly classical, or Midnight which is great for passers by, if there is a crowd nearby I crack out Scarified, Black Star or if I'm really feeling c0cky I go for Altitudes arps, and when it's a quiet shop I play blues improv or some of my own stuff.
That's usually my plan but I'll usually end up just doing whatever.

Just a question that I have to have answered...
Do use the slides for the long arps or do you just go down the regular shapes?

That also depends on how I'm feeling, I always try to get it as original as possible.

Seems like most of you guys visit shops just to impress people. xD
I personally don't feel all that comfortable when people start to focus and talk about me when I'm trying out an amp for example. Expectations start to build up, and I feel like a one-trick guitarist if I happen to repeat something. I came in to try out some new gear, I leave feeling stupid.

+1
I can generally get a decent feel for any guitar/amp/pedal within a few riffs and licks. Anything more than that might make me buy something I didn't intend to buy.
Case in point - extended test of a Line 6 Uber Metal pedal using a Jim Root Tele persuaded me to buy an Uber Metal pedal. And a Jim Root Tele.

I usually just improvise.Whatever I feel at the moment.I know a few hundred cover songs, but only play them when someones paying me to.I was trying out an amp the other day noodling around and some young kid goes"can you play eruption" and I said I never bothered to learn it.He said wow you played some amazing stuff and you can't play eruption.I said its already been done.I actually know most of it but don't care about impressing people the way I did when I was younger.

haha I hate it when people confuse 'can't play' with 'don't play'!
And am I strange for really not even liking Eruption?
I just don't think it sounds very good lol

It's barely a minute if you don't count the divebombs.
I don't mind the studio version, but most of the live ones you see on youtube are crap. I don't want to see a guy in red overalls noodle randomly on a beat up piece of crap guitar for over ten minutes, I don't care who it is. I'm also probably the only guy on Earth who isn't a fan of his scratchy tone. It bores into your ears and makes them sore.
