Lesson 10: *Intervals Complete!

A solo contest would be cool !!!! *Everybody downloads the same background, and get to play their own solo, and then there is a vote. Im sure Glen can set up a special voting area for that or something... *Im waiting.....

Lesson 10: *Intervals Complete!

i think that contest was called the TONOS JIBBOOM CONTEST the first time around. *went over really well :sarcasm:

i say that we put up a backing track for everyone to work a song over, then just post it for everyone to listen to and remark about.

the idea that one song or artist is "better" than the next is contradictory to what music is all about.

is it better for a person to say "i like red" or for a person to say "i like cheese"? *

neither, they are just things that can be said.

music is just what the artist has to say. *sure some are better at conveying their feelings in their music, but that doesnt make what they have to say any less important than the next ------ so how can you pick a "winner" that is proclaimed as "the best" from a group of unrelated statements?

and jay satriani, i dont mean to offend you and say that you have a bad idea, so please dont take it that way --- i just hate the idea of competition in music.

Lesson 10: *Intervals Complete!

i guess contest was a poor choice when I broached the idea. *My whole concept was to upload a chord progression and have every send in their take on it. *Then I'd take them all into Fruity Loops and mix them all together into a shred mega-mix.

Lesson 10: *Intervals Complete!

Im totaly with you shawn. When it comes to art, there is no real ruler to what is good or bad. But there is also a certain amount of skill involved in the art of music. I think the idea of all sending in their own solos is great. It doesn't have to be a contest. It would be really fun, to hear everybody on the site go lose over a cord progression. Im currently on work with a funky/bluesy background....
