Modes of Popular Songs
Hi all. Last night, as a fun way of ingraining all the canonical modes in my head, I started making a list of songs I know in the various modes. I was hoping others could pipe in with their favorites, and/or correct mistakes here. Here's the start of my list:
Ionian (Major): Always with Me, Always with You (main melody), and a bunch of happy music
Dorian: some blues
Phrygian: Time (by Satriani)
Lydian: K'm-Pee-Du-Wee, I'm Your Secrets
Mixolydian: Raspberry Jam Delta-V, Summer Song, Hill Groove
Aeolian (Minor): practically every song I write...
Locrian: jazz over m7b5 chords
I know there are many more "non-canonical" modes (jazz minor, Dorian b2, etc.), and modes with >7 notes, but since I've only started learning them I haven't included them here. Feel free to add them if you like.
