MP3 pitch and speed control plug-ins

In response to the "Megadeth 1/4 step flat" thread, I'm posting links to some Winamp plug-ins that allow you to change the pitch (and speed if you want to) of MP3s played with Winamp.

Pacemaker

Slow Me Down

Take It Easy

I used Pacemaker last night and it works very well. It should be noted that you need to go into the Options for this plug and set the Transpose option to 0.01 for the most precise control, especially if you're trying to play along with tunes that are playing back less than a 1/2 lower (or higher).

Finally, just to be clear, this only works with MP3s. It will not work with CDs.

Re: MP3 pitch and speed control plug-ins

I just used Pacemaker because it was the first one I found. I'll have to download the others and see who they compare.

Pacemaker allows you to store settings per track. You can also get plug-ins for Winamp that will allow you create loops for analyzing sections of songs too. It appears that you can get all the functionality of the Amazing Slow Downer with Winamp plug-ins and everything will be free. The only downside is lack of support because all the plug-ins I've referred to are written by users.

I've used the Amazing slowdowner, but it seems to run into problems on my computer, instead I downloaded the sized down winamp plugin, "Slow me down" works good enough for me.

But you only can tweak, the strech and the pitch of the music.

All you need for figuring out fast licks.

Re: MP3 pitch and speed control plug-ins

Are there any apps that can record the output of a slowed mp3? Reason being is I tried the looping plug ins (in conjunction with the slowdown plug in), and they are pretty coarse. I could not get a good smooth loop going on. If I can just record a version of the slowed down result, I can then open this up in Sound Forge, whose looping capability I like a whole lot better. Plus I can visually see the loop points better.

Of course, right after posting this it dawned on me that I could simply use Sound Forge to record the output of Winamp. Now I can finish that tab of "Out In The Night" by Zeno.
