National Guitar Workshop?

Hey Folks, I have been seriously considering going to the NGW this summer in Connecticut. I was just wondering if any other Jemsiter's have ever been there and what their thoughts of it were. I am 34 and have been playing guitar for some time, so I don't want it to be like a kids summer camp. The website says that 40% of the students are 25 and older, which was an interest to me. Any personal experiences or info would be great! Thanks, Tuggey

I have been contemplating on going, especially to the one with Holdsworth. Takes a dent out of the wallet though...

Yea...Its a grand but meals are included, and there is a 200.00 discount if you stay off campus.

I was there last year with Satch's Master-class in New Milford.
I'm 50. It's worth it. Do it.
Be ready for some serious theory.

Cool

Re: National Guitar Workshop?

They do not have anybody this year that is worth paying $1,000!
If George Lynch was himself instead of trying to be whatever else then it would
be worth my while but he plays like a slacker nowadays!!!!

Re: National Guitar Workshop?

Tuggey,
I teach and write for the NGW. I'll be heading up there in the next week to start recording the cd for my new instructional book. The masterclass stuff is always cool, but I alos like the Major/minor programs as well. Most everything is extremely up close and personal as far as the instruction goes.
If there are any questions I can help with..please feel free to contact me.
Kev

Re: National Guitar Workshop?

NGW is the highlight of my summers. I went for the first time last year and i would say about half the class or a little bit more were teenagers and below. I am 16 and it was one of the most fun things i have done. I was lucky enough to be taught by Dave Martone, and i have gotten SO much better since the class. I also got to meet Steve Vai because he did a master class. It is sooo much fun. I highly recommend it to anyone.
