Pinky-Ring finger independence and strength

thread title are the weak points in my playing apart from the lack of talent. I kinda made these exercises for myself to work on the problem. posting 'em here so that everyone can benefit from it.
Code:
   4 3 2 3 4 3 4 2
E--7---5---7---7-5-
B----6---6---6------
top numbers are fingers and you need to alternate pick the notes. start with upstroke and downstroke for more challenge and practice.

another exercise is a famous one by paul gilbert...but I have changed the finger position for my practice.

Alternate Picking:
Code:
--------------12-----------||
--12--14--15------15--14---||
--------------------------o||
--------------------------o||
---------------------------||
---------------------------||
   ^   v   ^   v   ^   v

--------------12------12-----------||
--12--14--15------15------15--14---||
----------------------------------o||
----------------------------------o||
-----------------------------------||
-----------------------------------||
   ^   v   ^   v   ^   v   ^   v

--------------12--13--15--13--12-----------||
--12--14--15----------------------15--14---||
------------------------------------------o||
------------------------------------------o||
-------------------------------------------||
-------------------------------------------||
   ^   v   ^   v   ^   v   ^   v   ^   v
talent is still an unsolved problem. hope this helps.

Re: Pinky-Ring finger independence and strength

i elaborated a bit on my original post, just continue the pattern until your are playing strings 1 and 6 at the same time:

7-8--5-6---7-8-5-6----7-8-5-6-----7-8-5-6------------------------------------
5-6--7-8-------------------------------------------------------------------
------------5-6-7-8----------------------------------------------------------
------------------------5-6-7-8--------------------------------------------
------------------------------------5-6-7-8---------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

your position never shifts off of the 5th fret;

1st finger - 5th fret
2nd finger - 6th fret
3rd finger - 7th fret
4th finger - 8th fret

there are always 2 notes at a time, so to compensate for the huge intervals near the end, i use my pick and middle finger (right hand) on this one. or you could play the notes one at a time and make it a crazy alternate picking excercise.
