It's true, acoustically is a great way to practice, I did it myself for 6 years -- no amp at all, but then a distorted amp will
really highlight the parts you fluff up and were never aware of. I'd say playing cleanly through an overdriven amp and staying in control is just as important as practicing acoustically or on the clean channel.

I agree with Fang on the Jazz III picks. I only recently discovered them but they are great.
